Bridge Healthcare Limited is a UK-based company that provides complete and integrated GP services to all residents of Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland. Our online consultations are also available to those in other parts of the world, too, who wish to benefit from the diagnostic and treatment expertise with which the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK endows its general practitioners (GPs).
We specialise mainly in diabetes—fortunate, given its increasingly common occurrence worldwide—but do retain an excellent roster for referral to other specialists when needed. Beyond this, we are about prompt GP services with a human face, and most of the cases get resolved within our walls. Indeed, we are the GP near you.
Bridge Healthcare is run and managed by Dr. Rahul Thakur MBBS, MRCGP, MSc (Diabetes). He has been with the NHS for two decades: he began in Emergency Medicine at Watford General Hospital in London, before training as GP in the East Anglia region, and now works in the Lancashire region. Since 2015, he has been GP Clinical Lead in the National Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP).
Dr. Thakur, 2017 onwards, had been GP with Specialist interest in Diabetes with East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. In this role, he combined the latest technology with evidence-based practice to manage the complications of those with long-term Type 1 and 2 diabetes and chaired meetings for Diabetes Services within the NHS trust. He also helped establish community diabetes service for East Lancashire across 52 GP practices and mentored other GPs in the area in this domain of expertise.
Dr Thakur has also been the Clinical Lead for Diabetes for North-West England (Lancashire & South Cumbria) and he now leads National Diabetes Prevention Programme, Type 2 Diabetes Path to Remission Programme and Structured Diabetes Education in the Lancashire and South Cumbria in his current role.
We are not just about diabetes. Our services range from chronic disease management to specialized joint injections (except spinal injections); from blood and urine investigations to advise on vaccinations and immunisation; from Well Person Health Check to acute illness outpatient treatments that do not require Emergency Department attendances. All paramedical is done by a well-trained team supervised hands-on by Ms. Jill Louise. Ms. Jill Louise has been the NHS for over three decades. She began as a medical secretary and later joined the nursing team as a highly-skilled healthcare assistant. She got her Nursing Associate degree in 2025. Diabetes and lifestyle counseling are her special interest. She has an instant effect on patients that enables quick goal-setting and measurable health benefits. See team for details.
We will respond within 24 hours of your request.
These services are NOT available for NHS patients registered at Pendle View Medical Centre, 47. Arthur Street, Brierfield, Nelson, BB9 5RZ
